We have very much appreciated the cooperation of city staff and the
time the community members have spent involved in the planning process. The
North Irvine plan reflects a careful application of the same
principals in planning that have influenced Irvine's well regarded
master plan for a city of villages with a sense of place, a balance
of land uses that provide opportunities for open space preservation,
recreation, housing, employment and commerce, and the fiscal balance
to sustain the delivery of city services.
Guided by the framework of Irvine's General Plan, the comprehensive
planning process for the Northern Sphere of Influence and Planning Area 1 has involved a
strong community partnership between the city, The Irvine Company
and Irvine residents. Over the course of many months and countless
meetings and workshops, a vision of what North Irvine should be has
emerged. This planning partnership is effective because it encourages
and welcomes the ideas, suggestions and concerns of Irvine
stakeholders. Outreach for Planning Area 1 will continue as the
process moves forward, and will include meetings and/or workshops with nearby
residents and home owner association groups.
