Woodbury (9A)
- Builders
The village of Woodbury, Planning Area 9A, is located between Jeffrey road to the west and Sand Canyon to the east, and Trabuco Road to the south and Bryan Avenue to the north. A major portion of the Jeffrey Open Space Trail borders the community, providing a link to Irvine's open space in the north to the beaches south of the city.
Perhaps more than any other feature, parks and other public open spaces define the village of Woodbury. They are considered so central to the village's small-town charm and appeal, in fact, that each Woodbury neighborhood park and public garden has its own unmistakable look and feel. From sizes and colors of tiles, to the selection and placement of plants, no detail was too small - and none was overlooked - when it came to designing Woodbury's parks and public gardens.
The Commons, at the heart of Woodbury, is a place where neighbors can connect and families can join together to cheer their children. Encompassing 30-acres, The Commons includes The Club, a nine-acre resort-style social and recreational facility for the exclusive use of Woodbury residents and their guests. Also included is the 10-acre Woodbury Community Park, operated by the city of Irvine. The park area includes baseball diamonds, two lighted full-court basketball courts, a soccer field and tot lot with open areas for picnics and play.
The new Woodbury Elementary School, which opened fall 2007, is also within The Commons boundary. Approximately 4,000 residential units will surround the parks, and a Promenade and a host of trails and paseos provide a link between The Commons, Woodbury neighborhoods and the retail area.
A wide range of housing options have been incorporated into the community, including single-family detached homes, attached homes and apartments. Each neighborhood within Woodbury forms smaller "districts" that each have their own distinct architectural style. Districts contain a central park or square that serve as a gathering place for residents.
Approximately 450,000 square feet of retail space for new shops, restaurants and services will serve the community. The new Woodbury Town Center has European-inspired architecture, complementing the adjacent residential neighborhoods. The first shops and restaurants at the center have opened, including anchor tenants Home Depot and Walgreens. All are scheduled to open by summer 2007, with many opening February and March.
Construction activities for Woodbury began in July 2003 and model homes are now open. For information on homes, please visit the online Homefinding Center™ at www.irvineranch.com. . The Construction Guidelines section of the web site outlines how activities will occur at the site, as well as when work will begin and end each day.
